Ten Things You Should Know about
 "Ijtima 1000" on 10/10/2014

Faheem Younus Qureshi, Sadr Majlis

This year’s National Ijtima of Majlis Ansarullah, USA—Ijtima 1000—will be held at Baitur Rahman Mosque on October 10-12, 2014.

After reviewing the red book items from previous years, our team is making certain enhancements to this year’s National Ijtima. I thought you should know about them.

1. Invitations

A brother said to me, “Members should receive a personal invite from Sadr Majlis.” “Inviting a guest is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be on him),” I thought. Over the past two months, I have sent personal invitations to members of National Amilah of the USA Jama‘at, senior members of Majlis Ansarullah, USA, and a personal invite in the form of apostcard to every member of Majlis Ansarullah, USA. I look forward to hosting the respected guests of the Promised Messiah (may peace be on him) and serving the spiritual sons of Khalifatul Masih.

2. Program

You wanted to see the program 6 weeks prior to the Ijtima; we provided it to you 12 weeks prior! Interactive workshops, personal accounts of converts, networking for jobs, and inspirational speeches are all included in the program. This is in addition to the educational and sports competitions. Check out the detailed program available on your website.

3. Food

The Promised Messiah took special care of his guests by providing them food of their liking. In keeping with that tradition, Majlis Ansarullah will provide both Pakistani and American food at the Ijtima. On Saturday, we are organizing a grand BBQ dinner; come prepared to recite poems, tell stories of your elders, or share a joke. Let’s make it a spiritually memorable evening.

4. Accommodation

We will stick to our tradition of accommodating our guests at the mosque and in nearby homes of fellow Ahmadis. In addition, based on feedback from some members, we are also providing the option of a hotel. You can book your room directly at a local Holiday Inn for $69/night, which includes Tahajjud/Fajr facilities along with free breakfast. Details here.

5. Competitions

Based on survey results, we have streamlined our educational competitions to enhance the quality and efficiency. Total time for competitions is reduced by 25% this year.

6. Seating

Programs are long, space is tight, and sitting on the floor becomes difficult. We know that. Therefore, Ijtima 1000 will be held in a large marquee, in the backyard of the Prayer area of Baitur-Rahman Mosque. We will have over 1000 chairs for your comfort.

7. Weather

Average temperature in Maryland during the month of October is in the mid-sixties. Evening temperatures can sometimes dip into the 50s. The Ijtima team is planning to provide you a comfortable environment but we also request guests to dress in layers.

8. Representation

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah be his helper) has mentioned this expectation in the past: there should be representation from as many Majalis as possible. For “Ijtima 1000” our goal is to have representation from over 65 Majalis. Who knows? We may even achieve representation from every single Majlis!

9. Historic Attendance

Here is a simple question: When was the last time 1000 Ansar got together at the Ansarullah platform in the USA? The answer: Never! Even though our National Ijtima will be held in 2014, we are calling it “Ijtima 1000” because we are doing our best to inspire over a 1000 souls to attend this blessed event. Be a part of this history.

10. Fastabiqul Khairat (Excel One Another in Good Works)

Names of the first 100 registrants were sent to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih for prayers. Come to the National Ijtima on October 10, 2014 where we will share those 100 names.
