About Us
All Ahmadi Muslims who are forty years of age or over, make the general body of 'Ansarullah.' Majlis Ansarullah, like the main body of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community - to which it is subordinate - is a non-political, religious and spiritual organization. The number of Ahmadi Muslims in US is growing gradually, predominantly as a result of migration from different countries such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Germany, Canada and Africa. Majlis Ansarullah came into existence in US in 1981. The name "Ansarullah" is an Arabic expression meaning "helpers of Allah." It is taken from a verse of the Holy Qur’ān, “And when Jesus perceived their disbelief, he said, ‘Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah?’ The disciples answered, ‘We are the helpers of Allah. We have believed in Allah. And bear thou witness that we are obedient” (Āl`Imrān : Verse 53)
Aims and Objectives: The aim of the organization is to promote the moral and spiritual training of its members resulting in a Godly, righteous, responsible and just society, true both to God and His creatures. The aims and objectives of the organization are reflected in the pledge, which every member has to make and recite in every formal meeting. These aims are:
To organize all male Ahmadi Muslims over the age of forty years in the Silsila Aliya Ahmadiyya (Ahmadiyya Muslim Community).
To inculcate the following amongst its members:
The love of Allah. The spirit to promote and propagate the teachings of Islam. Exhort to preach Islam and serve mankind. The spiritual and moral training children. The spirit of protecting the institution of Khilafat. The spirit of placing collective interests above individual interests. It shall purely be a religious organization with no political interest whatsoever.
Constitution: The 'Ansarullah' functions under its constitution, which is approved by Hadrat Khalifatul Masih, the supreme leader of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The constitution lays down rules for the appointment of office bearers; the structure of the organization; designation of the office bearers at different levels and their responsibilities; powers and duties of 'Majlis Shura' and general guidance.
Majlis Shura is a national consultative body, which recommends amendments to the constitution and recommends programs and activities for the upcoming year. All elections and proposals passed by the Shura carry the status of recommendations to Hadrat Khalifatul Masih, whose decision in every matter is final.
Structure: 'Ansar' are divided into two levels (Safs). The 'Saf Awwal' (First Level) comprises members of age above 55 years (senior members) while all others (40-54 years of age) form 'Saf Dom’ (junior members). The Sadr (National President) and Na’ib Sadr Saf Dom (Vice President under the age of 47) are elected for a period of two years. All other national office bearers are appointed by the Sadr on a yearly basis. Head of local Majlis (Chapter) is called Za'īm and is elected every two years.
