Ijtima 2019 Transportation Details

Transportation Team

Preferred Airport Arrival/Departure

The transportation Team strongly encourages all guests to fly to BWI (Baltimore-Washington Airport) as the distance and traffic between the other airports pose many logistical challenges, including extended delays, which might require more time for you to get to the Ijtima site and to leave the Ijtima site before the closing session ends.

Pickups and drops offs will be available Thursday September 19 to Sunday September 22. Please book your flights within this time frame as we cannot guarantee transportation outside these times.

Transportation Options

A) Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI)

If you have carry-on luggage only:

When exiting the terminal, take the elevator or escalator to go up to the Departure level (upper-most deck) and come outside to the departure curb using Door 10 close to The UPS Store as shown in the picture below. A Transportation Team representative will be present to welcome and guide you.

If you have checked-in luggage:

When exiting the terminal, head to the baggage claim area to collect your checked-in baggage, and then proceed to departure level (upper-most deck) via either escalator/stairs or elevator and come outside to the departure curb using Door 10 close to The UPS Store as shown in the picture above. A Transportation Team representative will be present to welcome and guide you.

Remember: This year, all pickups will happen from Departure Curb (upper most deck) at Door 10 at all times. If you do not see a Transportation Team member, please wait there and call the Transportation Team’s BWI-Lead, Nasir Malik (443-518-0449) and he will help with your transport needs.

The pick-up from BWI- departure level is to ensure that your wait time is minimal, Insha'allah. The Ijtima site is approximately 30-45 minutes away from the airport.

For departure, we would encourage you to leave at least 2-3 hours before your flight time. Please sign up for your departure transportation, at the Transportation Desk, 24 hours in advance.(Saturday night).

B) Washington National Airport (DCA)

This airport is located in the middle of Washington, DC; often marred with traffic jams and therefore less desirable.

• When exiting the terminal; head towards the “Baggage Claim” area and look for an Ansar transportation representative, standing by adjacent to an information booth. If you cannot find him, please call the transportation department DCA-Lead, Colonel Bashir Ahmed (703-944-8490), and he will guide you to your transport. Please follow your transportation representative’s instructions.
• Your wait time will be minimal Insha'allah, if we know of your arrival in advance. For unscheduled arrival your wait time is expected to be approx. 2 hours. The Ijtima site is approximately 60-90 minutes away from the airport.
• For departure, we would encourage you to leave at least 3-4 hours before your flight time. Please sign up for your departure transportation, at the Transportation Desk 24 hours in advance (Saturday night).

Note: For best service, please pre-plan your arrival and departure with the Transportation Team.

C) Dulles International Airport (IAD) – (Highly Discouraged)

Using this airport is highly discouraged. We can manage only large groups at this airport, with sufficient advanced notice. This airport is located in Northern Virginia; approximately 2 hours away. Travel time of 4 hours is not unheard of.

• When exiting the terminal; head towards the “Baggage Claim” area and look for transportation representative, standing by adjacent to an information booth. If you cannot find him, please call the transportation department, Mahmood sahib (571-265-9538) and he will guide you to your transport. Please follow your transportation representative’s instructions.
• Your wait time will be minimal Insha'allah, if we know of your arrival in advance. (Note: Regrettably, we will not be able to provide transportation to and from this airport if advanced arrangements are not made)
• For departure, we would encourage you to leave at least 4-5 hours before your flight time. Please sign up for your departure transportation, at the Transportation Desk, 24 hours in advance.(Saturday Night).

D) Union Station

The Union Station is also located in the middle of Washington, DC; often marred with traffic jams and therefore less desirable.

• Contact Colonel Bashir Ahmed (703-944-8490), in advance, to make pickup or drop-off arrangements from the Union station. Please follow your transportation representative’s instructions.
• Your wait time will be minimal Insha'allah if we know of your arrival in advance. For arrival not arranged in advance your wait time is expected to be approx. 1-2 hours. The Ijtima site is approximately 60-90 minutes away from the station.
• For departure, we would encourage you to leave at least 2-3 hours before your departure time. Please sign up for your departure transportation, at the Transportation Desk 24 hours in advance (Saturday night).

Shuttle to Courtyard by Marriott Silver Spring North 12521 Prosperity Drive, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904

The hotel is located approximately 10 minutes away from the Ijtima site (Baitur Rahman Mosque).

Shuttle service will be provided for the guests staying at this hotel only:-

• Friday evening – shuttles will be ready to take the attendees to the hotel immediately after the conclusion of the Shura/Ijtima sessions.
• Saturday morning – shuttles will start bringing attendees to the Ijtima site (Baitur Rahman Mosque) starting at 7:30 AM, with the last shuttle leaving at 8:30 AM.
• Saturday evening – shuttles will be ready to take the attendees to the hotel immediately after the conclusion of the Ijtima sessions.
• Sunday morning – Shuttles will start bringing attendees to the Ijtima site (Baitur Rahman Mosque) starting at 7:30 AM, with the last shuttle leaving at 8:30 AM. (Note: Please be ready with your luggage)
